Designetz
Data protection in the intelligent power grid (Smart Grid) is a central research topic of the chair, which has published several frequently cited articles on this topic. A DAAD-funded exchange project with the University of Lleida on the data-protection-compatible use of smart electricity meters ran until the end of 2015. This preparatory work led to participation in the "Designetz" project proposal, which - with numerous partners from Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia - aims to provide a practical demonstration of the feasibility of a smart grid.
Objectives and Approach
Under the direction of Professor Dr. Christoph Sorge, a blueprint for the energy turnaround and the energy network of the future is to be developed. In this project, Saarland University is working, among other things, on practically implementable solutions for the data protection-compatible handling of smart meter data and is investigating possible de-anonymization attacks on smart meter data.
Funded by the federal ministry of economics and energy.
