IRI§ Spring Trimester: Virtual E-Justice Workshop
On Thursday, March 18, from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m, Professor Georg Borges will lead the virtual workshop "E-Justice" . The workshop will explore the topic of e-justice in Austria, Germany and Switzerland from the perspective of judges and judicial officers. The event is being held in cooperation with the German EDV-Gerichtstag (German Conference in IT in the Judiciary) and the Research Meets Practice (ReMeP) platform. Record-breaking: The Institute at IRIS conference
With a record-breaking number of participants, the Institute of Legal Informatics enriched the International Legal Informatics Symposium IRIS. From February 25 to 27, legal experts presented current developments and research findings from the field of legal informatics. The focus of the conference was the exchange of information on legal dogmatics, technical, economic, social and philosophical issues of law in the knowledge economy. Members of the Institute gave eight lectures and chaired three working groups.
Lecture: Data protection and pandemic control
In addition to medical methods, technical methods have been and are being used to combat pandemics - in Germany in form of the Corona warning app. But is this app compliant with the current data protection framework? In their lecture on February 16, Mathias Cellarius, SAP's Chief Privacy Officer, and Thomas Klingbeil took this question as an opportunity to examine data protection law in the pandemic. The lecture concludes the public lecture series "Data Protection in Practice".
International Legal Informatics Symposium IRIS 2021
From February 24 to 27, the International Legal Informatics Symposium IRIS will be held as a hybrid event. Professor Georg Borges will lead the session "Digital Industry 4.0" and present on the topics of " Liability for Faulty Data in Automated Driving" and "Monday Mail", the latter together with Professor Dominik Brodowski. Professor Christoph Sorge will moderate the session "Data Protection IV" and give a presentation under the heading "What (also) lawyers should know about AI: more (artificial) intelligence in legal education" Click here for the programme and registration.
SAP legal expert visits Institute of Legal Informatics
It is the last lecture of the public lecture series "Data Protection Law in Practice": On Tuesday, February 16, Mathias Cellarius, SAP's Group data protection officer, will give a presentation under the heading "Pandemic and Data Protection - the Corona Warning App". From 6:15 to 7:45 p.m., all interested parties will have the opportunity to learn more about data protection. The expert will provide practical insights and answers to highly topical questions.
