On September 7, Professor Dr. Georg Borges was a guest of the ReMeP 2021 - Research Meets Practice - Legal Informatics Conference. The main topics of the hybrid event were "Computational Law" and "Legal Knowledge Graphs". From September 5 to 7, high-profile speakers discussed the use of artificial intelligence in court and the use of automated compliance tools and their potential application in practice throughout various workshops, presentations and panel discussions.

From August 9 to 13, more than 60 young researchers and experts took part in the Summer Camp 2021 - around 30 participants attended on site in Saarbrücken and more than 30 attendees followed the event online. The Institute of Legal Informatics invited young researchers to learn about the latest projects and new developments at the cutting edge of law and informatics. Over the course of four exciting and informative days, 20 speakers gave nearly 40 presentations.

Artificial intelligence: how to achieve trustworthy usage in Germany and Europe? was the motto of the Consumer Law Days on July 12. The conference, that is held by the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection (BMJV) since 2015, addresses current issues of consumer law and aims to develop ideas for key topics in the field. Professor Georg Borges was part of the distinguished panel.

For the second time, the Institute of Legal Informatics is hosting a hybrid "Summer Camp" on the topic of "IT and Law". From 9 to 12 August 2021, interested parties have the opportunity to attend expert lectures on cutting-edge research questions and participate in workshops and discussions on the Institute's current research projects. The topics of the Summer Camp range from AI and Law and IoT to Legal Tech, Data Protection and IT Security. Participation is free of charge. On June 24, Professor Dr. Georg Borges gave a presentation on AI systems and product liability at the world's primary international conference addressing research in Artificial Intelligence and Law, the "ICAIL - 18th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law 2021". From 21 to 25 June, renowned scientists discussed their latest research findings and practical applications on the topic of Artificial Intelligence & Law in various lectures and workshops.
