On Tuesday, November 9, from 6:15 to 7:45 pm, Attorney Carola Sieling from the Sieling law firm will report on data breach management in companies and the practice of imposing regulatory fines. The specialist in the field of IT and Internet law is a guest speaker of the public lecture series "Data Protection in Practice." Participation is free of charge and open to the public. In a post ICAIL 2021 event, Professor Dr. Georg Borges will give a lecture on Thursday, November 25, between 11 am and 2 pm. Other speakers who will talk on  artificial intelligence and law include Loren Spindola, Professor Ana Frazão, Professor Giovanni Sartor, and Cari Hyde-Vaamonde. The International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law (ICAIL) is the primary international conference addressing research in artificial intelligence and law. Join us online! On October 7, following the presentation of the model contract in May of this year, Professor Dr. Georg Borges and other experts presented a contract guide for Industry 4.0 platforms. This contract guide is an interim result of working group 4 "Legal Framework" of the Legal-Testbed project. The UAG Legal-Testbed has formulated conditions of participation in an Industry 4.0 platform that aim to balance regulations between operators and users.

On Thursday, October 21 at 6:15 p.m., Prof. Dr. Georg Borges will give a lecture  under the heading "Discrimination by AI systems: An Analysis from a Legal Perspective" as part of the interdisciplinary and hybrid lecture series "Explainable AI and Society" of the EIS project at Saarland University (Building E1 1, Room 4.07). Among other topics, the lecture will address the limits of legal protection against discrimination as well as the chances of detecting the former in machine decisions. "Man or machine - Who will shape the future of law application?" was the motto of the 30th German Conference on IT in the Judiciary, which was held as a digital event. From September 22 to 24, legal scholars, computer scientists and experts from the fields of business, politics and administration exchanged ideas on artificial intelligence in the judiciary. Alongside the event programme, the Institute of Legal Informatics provided insights into its current research projects.
